Chai Spiced Chats
The Story
Chai Spiced Chats was born out of its host, Meera Patel’s desire to reflect on her experience as a first generation American-Indian. She wanted to explore the dichotomy of her identity and use this platform to invite discussion and discourse about this multicultural experience.
A deeply insightful play on the popular ‘spill the tea’ format of podcasts, the host settles down over a steaming cup of desi chai, poised to take on a nuanced anecdote of her immigrant experience. The bindi is a central visual element which features across the all branding elements.
For an American client, based in Dallas.
The logo aspires to best represent both worlds - boldly Indian with American flair: high contrast, custom colors, display friendly.
primary: custom black and white
secondary: warm colour scheme
tertiary
A color scheme drawing on evergreen Indian hues to bring depth and warmth: the kumkum reds, saffron, mustard yellow and dusty leaf greens compliment the roots of this podcast
A visual identity immersed in color
Referencing the Indian paisley patters, floral motifs, and playing with the typeface glyphs to create an expansive and expressive character set
Giving colors a form
Adapting the simplified paisley into a lovable character set – experimenting with combinations from the secondary color scheme
Impact
The branding helped further her win of the USD 5000 Podca$h grant (created by Racket & Stir). The podcast is now live across all major streaming platforms.
